Emanuel is an artist that captures thoughts, scenes, ideas and conversations from life around him in his artworks. The various encounters he has with people he meets inspires him to recreate their stories on a canvas.
Emanuel was born in Ethiopia in 1985. Like many other Ethiopian artists, he received his fine art training at the Alle School of Fine Arts and Design.
He began his career in 2009, as a cartoonist for Saloon Ethiopia. He later worked on various projects from creating movie storyboards to book covers.
In the past three years he has showcased his work in several exhibitions in Ethiopia, including ‘The Art of Memory’ at the Italian Culture Institute (2011), the AU Golden Jubilee art exhibition at the Sheraton Addis and a solo exhibition of ‘Angels and Demons’ at the Alliance Ethio-Francaise (2013), and most recently he took part in the Upcoming Art of Ethiopia – 2014 at the Sheraton Addis (December 11, 2014).
Currently Emanuel works as a full-time studio artist.
